Solar energy is energy generated by the sun. You’ve probably heard of a number of ‘solar powered’ things during your life – like batteries, fans and even small cars. As people become more aware of the benefits of solar energy, the numbers of people opting to have a solar energy system installed in their home are steadily increasing. Businesses are catching on to this trend as well. The number of businesses having solar energy systems installed has also increased exponentially over the past few years. Still for some, the question of why would anyone want a solar energy system in their home or business remains. We’re going to answer that question for you and show you some of the many ways residential and commercial properties can benefit from and use solar energy.
First of all, electricity is made using fossil fuels. These fossil fuels are non-renewable resources like coal and gas that power the electric plants. While there will always be a need for electricity, there will not always be a supply of it once these fossil fuels have been depleted because they are non-renewable resources. Once they’re gone – they’re gone. Further, fossil fuels like coal and gasoline create harmful emissions that wreak havoc on our environment. Since the cost of these fossil fuels fluctuates wildly, our energy bills will, too – as those fluctuations in prices are passed on to the consumer. By installing a solar energy system in your home or business, you cut down on the amount of fossil fuel-produced energy that you use, thereby cutting your electric bills and making for a cleaner environment as well.
If you want, you could disconnect from the power grid all together and rely solely on solar energy – meaning you would never have to pay an electric bill again.
For residential use, solar energy produces enough electricity to power most everything in a home during the daylight hours. Washers, dryers, hair dryers, lights and other appliances that you use. During the day, you would rely very little on the main electric grid because your solar energy system would be producing the power that you need. To extend your solar energy savings even further, you could have a thermal heating system installed to heat all the water you use in your home – for doing laundry, taking baths and even for your pool.
For commercial use, solar energy provide many of the same benefits, but it can also provide power for certain types of motors and machinery used in manufacturing, once they have been converted to run on solar energy. This is big news for the commercial industry because relying on solar power for some of their most electricity-consuming projects could cut their energy costs by hundreds, if not thousands from year to year.
If you’re been thinking about installing a solar energy system in your home or business, but are unsure how to get started, contact a qualified installer to discuss your energy needs. They can help you come up with the most efficient solar energy plan that will best suit your needs.

There are no harmful fuels or additives needed. Solar energy does not pollute nothing harmful is sent into the atmosphere and it is silent meaning no noise pollution.

I would hook my house to solar energy but the up-front costs are so expensive and I’ve heard it sometimes is not that reliable…but I’m open to the idea.

I know as soon as I buy a house, I want Solar paneling all over. if we had more people who took advantage of natural resources, we would be a lot better off for many years to come. trying to convince people of that is another story.

We have a second home in Greece and our hot water has been solar for years – no energy whatsoever required unless we have a few days of cool, rainy weather. We are also looking in to investing in a solar farm and adding some solar power to our house.
